About Us
Our Company:
Zambridgian was developed to share the culture, beauty, style, and craftsmanship of Zambia with the world. Our ownership group includes Zambians and we are committed to supporting Zambia and Zambians through our product design, production, and marketing processes. We source as much material as possible from small businesses within Zambia and hire Zambian talent at fair wages.
Our Story:
When our founders first arrived in Zambia from the United States, they were moved by the grace of the Zambian people, the peacefulness of the culture, and the beauty of the natural environment. Zambia is dotted with small lodges far away from civilization - in the bush, along the river, and within the plains - all places rolling luggage can't go! After buying a leather travel bag and beautiful Chitenge cloth at a local market, our founders had the idea to marry the two together and our first product, the Ulendo Duffle was born.
As we grow, we hope to create more goods that inspire our customers to travel on adventures while learning about new places and cultures. Our additional products aim to provide luxury leather goods which subtly pay homage to Zambia.
Our Leather:
Our leather (with exception to our TGL Accessories) comes exclusively from Zamleather, a subsidiary of Zambeef. The hides are a byproduct of Zambia’s large beef industry and are upcycled into finished leather and ultimately luxury goods. Because Zambian cows are marked then are allowed to roam freely, it is not uncommon for hides to contain branding, insect bites, vein marks and sometimes even predator scratches. We believe these add to the uniqueness of the pieces we create.
Our leather is naturally water and stain resistant and is easy to clean. Generally, wiping with a damp cloth and mild soap is enough to remove dirt. An occasional application of a wax-based conditioner should suffice. When applying any leather conditioners, please spot check in an inconspicuous location before applying to the entire leather product.
Our Giving:
Zambridgian donates a portion of its profits to Living Hope Foundation, an orphanage in Lusaka, Zambia.
